More than 75 members of the St. Tammany Retired School Employees Association met at the Treen Instructional Center Thursday morning to enjoy the group's annual Christmas luncheon.
The theme was Christmas/Saints, with many wearing holiday season attire and others wearing Saints football jerseys. It was a grand event with food, fellowship, and music by the Covington Talented Music students on stage.
President Eric Sacks gave recognition to the several organizations that have supported the STRSEA activities throughout the year, among them Humana, the St. Tammany Federal Credit Union, and AMBA. A number of members brought gifts to share with Project Christmas, and a number of door prizes were distributed to those lucky persons in attendance.
The group's next meeting is a very important one. The annual "Legislative Meeting" will be held on January 23 at the Treen location, and among the items to be discussed will be proposed legislative actions affecting retiree pensions. Legislators will be invited to attend, with speakers coming from the La. Retired Teachers Association (Rodney Watson, Executive Director) and the Teachers Retirement System of Louisiana (Dana Vicknair, Director of TRSL).
The group is also looking forward to making plans for a spring bus excursion tour which will highlight an area attraction for a day's outing for interested members.
