The most enjoyable part of her professional career is to hear from "my kids" (or their parents) about their life choices!
She has chosen to be a lifelong learner in her retirement phase of life. As a LSU AgCenter Master Gardener and Master Naturalist, as well as, a summer camp counselor for the City of Mandeville “Water Wonders” camp, her passion for the environmental sciences continues to be nourished and flourish.
She’s always been a nature nut and thankful for volunteer and continuing learning opportunities to share the richness of Mother Earth. Also a new path is opening within the advocacy community, as Christy speaks for her TBI disabled daughter.
Training by the Developmental Disabilities Council: Partners in Policymaking has enabled them to be active participants in the legislative process with LaCAN visits locally and to the LA capitol during the legislative session, and by communicating their special needs as both disabled and elderly citizens.
The Advocacy Center training will begin this Spring!
When asked about a typical day in her life, she replied, “Not sure where ‘normal’
went, but not in my home anymore!!”
What is a good way to spend $20? Christy finally has moments to bake! She loves to make homemade breads and cookies for caregivers and their families, health care workers that help in her daughter’s recovery, teachers at TMS, neighbors and church members…breaking bread together always makes her happy!
Her motto for life? Jeremiah 29:11has sustained them…”For I know what I have planned for you, ‘says the Lord’. I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.” NET
What is her favorite St. Tammany attraction? From outside in her garden to the Northlake Nature Center, State Parks and Big Branch National Wildlife Refuge…Christy is in her happy place in the great outdoors!
